1. What is your first memory of baking/cooking on your own?
Toast in primary school. Slot 2 in the toaster. Set the timer to 5 mins. DING! Half burnt but who cares when you're just a little kid...
2. Who had the most influence on your cooking?
My dad. The DIY man, he doesn't really need a recipe to come up with some wild dishes. Nothing too fancy, but just good enough to leave a really nice taste...sorry mom, your cooking's a waaay too plain... >.<
3. Do you have an old photo as “evidence” of an early exposure to the culinary world and would you like to share it?
Wish I had one. I have a more recent one of a bowl of spaghetti though...but I think that doesn't count.
4. Mageirocophobia - do you suffer from any cooking phobia, a dish that makes your palms sweat?
There was this once during when I left the pan to heat for too long before pouring oil, so when I did the whole pan caught fire and flames started leaping towards the ceiling. Luckily I threw the whole thing in the sink before it got out of hand and the flames died down soon. Been afraid of heating pans ever since.
5. What would be your most valued or used kitchen gadgets and/or what was the biggest let down?
My small pot with a single handle sticking out. Kept me going on rainy nights and lazy nights when I couldn't go out to tah pau or eat...COOK MAGGI MEE USE WAN LAH!
6. Name some funny or weird food combinations/dishes you really like - and probably no one else!
I'd say french fries with ice cream but that's already taken by Vicky and Julian...so it's gotta be... mushroom soup maggi mee? Anybody ever tried this combination?
7. What are the three eatables or dishes you simply don’t want to live without?
(a) Pizza! Addicted to it ever since I watched ninja turtles when I was 6.:P
(b) Coffee, the only thing that can open my eyes during long working afternoons. Must have a cup at least everyday.
(c) Rice lo...cant be eating junk everyday :P
8. Three quickies:
Your favorite ice-cream… : Anything vanilla. Not particularly an ice-cream lover though.
You will probably never eat… : I tried fermented milk once in an Indian curry house. I'M NOT GONNA GO NEAR IT AGAIN!
Your own signature dish… : Spaghetti sauce with added cheese. Really brings out the taste.
9. Who do you want most to cook you dinner?
My wife. Sadly I'm gonna have to wait some time for that, if I ever get the chance at all...
10. How do you bake a cheesecake [that's edible]?
Alamak...there was this one time when my sister wanted to teach me but I was too busy and ignorant to learn it. So sadly, I don't know :P
I have to tag 3 people eh?
a) Edwin Tan. Lets see what he has to say about cooking hehe.
b) Samantha. As with Mel's reason, I don't see this in her blog :P
c) Shieh Nee. Doubt she'll be answering though since she's so busy...
